  1. Activities Assistant - Part Time

Ashridge Care Home at Bexhill-on-Sea are looking for a part time Activities Assistant to join their friendly team.  The part time hours will be between 22 and 28 hours a week working across 7 days.

Purpose of Role:

In this role you will be a member of the Activities Team, offering a wide variety of therapeutic activities 7 days a week to engage our residents’ minds and bodies. We organize outings to popular locations and places of interest in our minibus to encourage our residents to get out and about and stay in touch with the community. Through the creation of a wide variety of activities that cater to the individual, we aim to ensure that residents lead a full and active life through social interests and activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to really get to know our residents and provide them with a variety of stimulating activities that not only promote physical but also mental and social wellbeing. The opportunities are endless in terms of what activities you could implement and we would be interested to hear your ideas and suggestions.

Key Duties:

  • Assist with planning weekly activities in line with the requests and choices of the residents

  • Enhance the wellbeing of residents through stimulating social and physical activities

  • Ensure the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of the residents are listened to and met

  • Assess needs and plan individual activities for residents who are unable to participate in group activities

  • Ensure risk assessments are carried out prior to activities and outings and policies and procedures are adhered to at all times

  • Motivate the care team, promote the importance of activities and contribute to the caring culture of the Home


  • Excellent communicator

  • Show an empathetic, warm and cheerful personality

  • Ability to put creative ideas into practice

  • Experience of working with senior people with dementia would be preferred but not essential

  • Possess a genuine love and understanding of older people

  • Experience in activities for older people will be an advantage

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends
